Debra Winston

Harrell Remodeling Inc. is proud to introduce you to one of our premier designers, Debra Winston. Debra’s award-winning work, varied background and experiences lead to exceptional client satisfaction. She comes to the remodeling domain having been a fashion designer for Ralph Lauren, a painter, and a quilt artist. Born and raised in Kansas City, Debra obtained her BFA in painting from Washington University in St. Louis. She then attended the Parson’s School of Design in New York, where a summer internship for Ralph Lauren Design turned into 13 years of designing accessories and scarves for the company. In 1997, she moved to the Bay Area. While her children were still young, she was commissioned to create large scale, embellished, non-traditional quilts for public display. In addition, she also painted oil portraits and decorative glass objects such as plates, bowls, and vases. After raising her children, Debra took on new challenges and returned to school to study Interior Design at Cañada College, where she specialized in Kitchen and Bath Design. One of her designs was chosen and constructed for the President’s Reception Area at the college. After completing the program, she worked as an Interior Designer, choosing fabrics and furniture, window treatments, paint colors, and accessories. Subsequently, she honed her skills as a Kitchen and Bath Designer for many years before joining the Harrell Remodeling team. She recently won a Gold NARI Meta award for one of her kitchen designs. Debra takes great pleasure in guiding her clients’ through the design + build process. She believes strongly in listening closely to what they want, and what will actually work for them. Her goal is to give them the best solution for their particular needs and lifestyles. “I get to take a poorly functioning space, and reconfigure it with an improved layout, enhanced lighting, increased accessibility, and heightened functionality.” The process of leading her clients through the remodeling adventure, and making personal connections along the way, gives her great satisfaction. In her spare time, Debra enjoys bicycling, walking her Portuguese Water Dog, and quilting small projects for her family. Email: dwinston@harrell-remodeling.com
