Iris Harrell, GC, CKD, CBD, CGBP, CGPA

As founder of Harrell Remodeling, Iris has helped set the high standards and work ethic that the Harrell team lives by daily. She founded the company in 1985, and wore a tool belt for 7 years. As the company grew, she formalized her design training and green education.

Iris’ former careers include teaching and being a full time musician on the road. But when her life partner, Ann Benson, handed her an electric drill to hang pictures, her career took a radical direction into design and construction. After obtaining a general contractor’s license, Iris ventured out to find employment in construction, but was turned away because of her gender and age. So Iris started her own business. The rest is history.

Iris’ business awards include the national Fred Case Remodeling Entrepreneur of the Year Award, Inc Magazine Best Workplace Award, Top 25 Women owned businesses in Silicon Valley and Professional Remodeler’s Market Leader Award for being #1 in the San Francisco market. Each year Harrell Remodeling collectively wins more design awards locally than any other local firm in Silicon Valley.
